When embraced and adopted as one's own, it puts you on track to realizing your divine destiny of union with God.

Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages
and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
To whom God would make known what is the riches
of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles;
which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.
Colossians 1:26-27
Paul goes on to admonish the Ephesians:
"I therefore beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called. ... Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ."
This is what we are expressly enjoined to aspire to and strive for - to ultimately become Christed beings - in emulation of our risen Lord.
On another occasion Paul speaks of "Let that mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus" which connotes as - Christ Consciousness. A new paradigm that the orthodox Christian world would do well to adopt in the 21st Century, as the model for Christian thinking and living.
Christ Consciousness is something the Christian Church has failed to inculcate and cultivate in its adherents, to the detriment of its sometime sordid history and legacy.
